STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania's governor is defending his change of heart on the NCAA sanctions imposed on Penn State over the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.

Gov. Tom Corbett filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA on Wednesday for the heavy sanctions it imposed over the school's handling of accusations against the former assistant football coach. They included a $60 million fine and a four-year ban on participation in bowl games.

In a Thursday morning interview on KDKA radio in Pittsburgh, Corbett said he supported the sanctions when they were imposed over the summer because he believed Penn State should follow NCAA rules. He says he later concluded that the NCAA was violating its own rules.

The Republican made the rounds Thursday on national TV and talk-radio shows in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
