Golden trying to move Miami closer to BCS game

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Miami coach Al Golden has no plan to be watching when No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Alabama play Monday night for the BCS national title.

He'll be too busy trying to get his team closer to playing in that game.

Golden said Friday that he and the Hurricanes are already well into preparations for next season, which primarily means finishing up playbook-related items and making sure recruiting ends with a flourish.

Miami self-imposed a second consecutive postseason ban in 2012, costing the Hurricanes a trip to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game and a bowl appearance. The Hurricanes sat out because of an ongoing NCAA investigation into compliance practices, a probe that started in 2011 and is now believed to be winding down.
