CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Miami coach Al Golden says the ongoing NCAA investigation and all the negativity surrounding it made recruiting the class the Hurricanes signed Wednesday much more difficult than the process last year.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Golden says the 15 new additions to the team this year were ``exposed to the toxicity'' of the investigation for two years and that it clearly is a deterrent for the Hurricanes in recruiting. He also was upset that two weeks before signing day, the NCAA publicly announced that it was looking into how its own investigators broke rules during the Miami probe.

Golden says that alone was ``an incredible impediment'' to the Hurricanes.
