PLANTATION, Fla. (AP) - Highly recruited running back Alex Collins has signed his letter of intent to play for Arkansas, one day after his mother refused to give her consent.

Collins' father provided that consent Thursday. Under NCAA rules, students under 21 must have the signature of a parent or legal guardian on the letter.

Collins starred at South Plantation High in Florida's talent-rich Broward County and originally committed to Miami. He opened up his recruitment last year, saying he wanted to see other parts of the country.

He says he ``fell in love'' with Arkansas, and that his mother supports his decision. However, his mother was not at his signing event Thursday, and the law firm started by former O.J. Simpson lawyer Johnnie Cochran says it is representing her and ``the family's interests.''
