COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward earned a three-year contract and a $100,000 raise Thursday after the Gamecocks second straight 11-win season.

The deal was approved by the school's board of trustees. Ward's contract runs through the 2015 season. His salary was increased to $650,000 following his first full season running the Gamecocks defense.

The board also approved two-year contracts for coach Steve Spurrier's other eight assistants, keeping them with the Gamecocks through 2014.

Spurrier had his contract extended two years through 2017 back in December. He's scheduled to earn $3.3 million next season. In all, South Carolina will pay assistant coaches more than $2.3 million next season.
