TEXAS LONGHORNS (5-2)

vs. GEORGETOWN HOYAS (5-1)

Jimmy V Classic – New York, NY
Tip-off: Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. ET
Line: Georgetown -6, Total: 119

No. 15 Georgetown looks to grab another solid neutral court win when it battles Texas at the Jimmy V Classic in New York City on Tuesday night.

The Hoyas beat UCLA in Brooklyn as part of the Legends Classic on Nov. 19, then pushed No. 1 Indiana to overtime the next night. However, the Hoyas are just 1-3 ATS this season and coming off an exceedingly ugly, 37-36 home win over Tennessee. Texas also played a series of neutral court games earlier this year at the Maui Invitational. Their trip included an embarrassing loss to Division II Chaminade en route to a seven-place finish in the eight-team field.

Can the Longhorns get it together and cover the spread? For the answer, connect to College Basketball Best Bets for all the Expert picks throughout the entire 2012-13 season. The StatFox experts are a collective 52.3% ATS (92-84-5) in college basketball Best Bets for the season, led by StatFox Gary, who is 6-2 ATS in the past nine days and 61% ATS (19-12) for the season. StatFox Dave is at 52% ATS (35-32-1) for the season after going 57% ATS (26-20-1) since Nov. 17. StatFox Brian is 5-1 ATS (83%) in the past six days and sits at 51% ATS for the season.

Texas bounced back from its awful Maui trip with home wins over Sam Houston State and Texas-Arlington. They’re still turning the ball over too often though—35 times in the Sam Houston and Texas-Arlington wins, as they're averaging 18.7 TOPG. The 'Horns have defended well this year though, holding opponents to 55.7 PPG on 30.7% FG. Offensively, sophomore swingman Sheldon McClellan (17.0 PPG) has led the way, with SG Julien Lewis (12.0 PPG, 41% 3-pt FG) stepping up since moving into the starting lineup for the past four games (15.0 PPG, 58% threes). Filling in for Kabongo, freshman Javan Felix has averaged 6.3 APG, but is also shooting just 32% FG (including 1-for-11 on threes) with 3.6 turnovers per game.

The Hoyas knock down shots at a healthy 49% FG clip and commit just 13 TOPG. But they won ugly over Tennessee on Friday, hitting just 36% FG and shooting 1-for-7 from behind the arc. SF Otto Porter (11.6 PPG, 7.4 RPG) is rounding into form after being limited by a concussion early on, averaging 14.5 PPG on 55% FG and 9.0 RPG over the past four games. Sophomore PF Greg Whittington (12.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG) has led a balanced attack, while junior SG Markel Starks (12.3 PPG, 44% 3-pt FG) has shot it well this year (though he struggled with just four points in the Tennessee win).
