CHARLOTTE 49ERS (9-0)

at MIAMI HURRICANES (5-1)

Tip-off: Friday, 7:00 p.m. ET
Line: Miami -7.5, Total: 135

Charlotte looks to stay unbeaten while Miami has a chance for a fifth straight win when these schools meet up on Friday night.

Charlotte has also covered in six of its seven lined games, including all four it played away from home (three neutral court, one road game). The Hurricanes will be its first opponent from a major conference. Miami has won four straight since getting tripped up at Florida Gulf Coast, including an eight-point win over Michigan State at home.

Can Miami cover the big spread against an unbeaten opponent? For the answer, connect to College Basketball Best Bets for all the Expert picks throughout the entire 2012-13 season. The StatFox experts have a collective 51% ATS mark (114-111-6) in college basketball Best Bets for the season, led by StatFox Gary, who is 11-7 ATS (61%) since Nov. 26 and 59% ATS (24-17) for the season. StatFox Dave is at 52% ATS (42-39-2) on the year, helped out by a 4-0 ATS mark over the past five days. StatFox Brian is 10-8 ATS (56%) since Nov. 30.

Miami has been extremely efficient on the offensive end, with five players averaging double-digits and the team shooting 48% FG and getting to the line for 23.7 FTA per game. Since returning from a season-opening, three-game suspension, Scott is averaging 15.0 PPG on 56% FG with 6.0 RPG and 3.0 APG. Sophomore SG Shane Larkin (16.3 PPG) is hitting 52% of his threes. C Reggie Johnson (12.8 PPG, 10.8 RPG) is the guy who could really give the 49ers fits. The 6-foot-10, 290-pounder is getting to the line 7.8 times per game.

Charlotte has played a weak schedule so far, succeeding by smothering its opponents on the defensive end. The 49ers are allowing opponents to shoot just 36% FG. They’re deep, but offensively they don’t have a lot of explosiveness, relying on sixth man PF Chris Braswell (14.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG) while SG Terrence Williams (9.7 PPG) struggles through a prolonged shooting slump (36.6% FG, 1-for-17 threes). Their only other player averaging double-digits is SG DeMario Mayfield (10.0 PPG), who also comes off the bench.
