OKLAHOMA SOONERS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 11-2 (7-2 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 8-5 (62%)
Over/Under: 8-5
Points Scored: 32.8 PPG (40th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 22.1 PPG (T-22nd in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 12/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 5
Defense: Starters Returning: 9
Sophomore QB Trevor Knight (6.1 YPA, 9 TD, 5 INT) earned his starting spot with 348 passing yards and 4 TD versus Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, but doesn’t have any proven receiving options after WR Sterling Shepard (603 rec yds, 7 TD). Highly-recruited Joe Mixon figures to get the bulk of the carries. OU’s defensive front seven is outstanding, especially DE Charles Tapper (5.5 sacks, 9 TFL) and LBs Eric Striker (50 tackles, 6.5 sacks) and Dominique Alexander (80 tackles). The young secondary will certainly be tested.

BAYLOR BEARS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 11-2 (8-1 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 9-4 (69%)
Over/Under: 9-4
Points Scored: 52.4 PPG (1st in FBS)
Points Allowed: 23.5 PPG (36th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 30/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 5
Defense: Starters Returning: 4
The Bears lost plenty from last season’s team that won a Big 12 title and a school-record 11 games, but superstar QB Bryce Petty (4,200 pass yds, 32 TD, 3 INT) and electric WR Antwan Goodley (1,339 rec yds, 13 TD) are both back. Top rusher Lache Seastrunk is gone, but RB Shock Linwood (881 rush yds, 6.9 YPC, 8 TD) can fly. The defense is very green, but DEs Shawn Oakman (12.5 TFL) and Jamal Palmer (11 TFL) are a fierce tandem. LB Bryce Hager (71 tackles) is solid, but the rest of the back seven has major question marks.

TEXAS LONGHORNS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 8-5 (7-2 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 5-7-1 (42%)
Over/Under: 5-8
Points Scored: 29.3 PPG (65th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 25.8 PPG (57th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 85/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 6
Defense: Starters Returning: 7
New Head Coach: Charlie Strong
The biggest question mark to begin the Charlie Strong era is the health status of oft-concussed QB David Ash (8.7 YPA, 7 TD, 2 INT). But this will be a run-first offense with RBs Malcolm Brown (904 rush yds, 9 TD) and Jonathan Gray (780 rush yds), now that Joe Bergeron (5.0 YPC, 4 TD) is no longer with the team. Texas’ receiving corps also has great depth. The defense should improve with DE Cedric Reed (10 sacks), LB Jordan Hicks (40 tackles) and star CB Quandre Diggs (10 PD).

OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 10-3 (7-2 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 8-5 (62%)
Over/Under: 6-7
Points Scored: 39.1 PPG (14th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 21.6 PPG (19th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 200/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 5
Defense: Starters Returning: 4
The Cowboys are more confident in improving QB J.W. Walsh (7.0 YPA, 9 TD, 5 INT), who has a pair of exciting receivers in WRs Jhajuan Seales (571 rec yds) and Brandon Sheperd (15.9 yds per rec). The ground game is also in great shape with RB Desmond Roland (811 rush yds, 13 TD). The defense has some holes after seven senior starters left, but returning DE Jimmy Bean (5 sacks, 10 TFL), CB Kevin Peterson and CB Ashton Lampkin are all special.

KANSAS STATE WILDCATS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 8-5 (5-4 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 8-5 (62%)
Over/Under: 5-8
Points Scored: 33.2 PPG (37th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 22.9 PPG (31st in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 100/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 6
Defense: Starters Returning: 4
QB Jake Waters (9.5 YPA, 18 TD, 9 INT) is now the lone starter with Daniel Sams transferring, and Waters will continue to feed WR Tyler Lockett (81 rec, 1,262 yds, 11 TD) early and often. The ground game lacks experience with RB DeMarcus Robinson (5 rush, 20 yds) expected to replace John Hubert. Seven defensive starters left, but DE Ryan Mueller (11.5 sacks) and LB Jonathan Truman (89 tackles) will help guide the youngsters in 2014.

TCU HORNED FROGS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 4-8 (2-7 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 4-8 (33%)
Over/Under: 6-6
Points Scored: 25.1 PPG (88th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 25.3 PPG (54th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 175/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 7
Defense: Starters Returning: 8
New co-OCs Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie are installing a fast-paced system, and hope Texas A&M transfer Matt Joeckel (7.9 YPA) will be able to run it successfully. His arrival keeps Trevone Boykin (26 rec) at WR, and the new offense perfectly suits speedy RB B.J. Catalon (5.3 YPC, 6 TD). TCU’s defense is strong with DE Devonte Fields (10 sacks in 2012) now healthy, LB Marcus Mallet (70 tackles) and S Chris Hackett (88 tackles, 3 INT).

TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 8-5 (4-5 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 6-7 (46%)
Over/Under: 8-5
Points Scored: 35.8 PPG (T-23rd in FBS)
Points Allowed: 30.5 PPG (88th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 500/1

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 8
Defense: Starters Returning: 4
After a year of uncertainty, QB Davis Webb (7.5 YPA, 20 TD, 9 INT) is the unquestioned starter behind a mostly intact O-Line. The passing game lost Eric Ward and Jace Amaro, but WR Bradley Marquez (633 rec yds, 6 TD) should flourish as an inside receiver. RB DeAndre Washington (450 rush yds, 4 TD) is a capable back. The team improved its D-Line with JUCO transfers, and ILB V.J. Fehoko transferred from Utah, but this is still a poor defense.

WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 4-8 (2-7 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 3-8-1 (27%)
Over/Under: 6-6
Points Scored: 26.3 PPG (79th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 33.3 PPG (T-100th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 100/1 (Field)

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 7
Defense: Starters Returning: 7
Despite having offensive guru Dana Holgorsen as head coach, this WVU offense could struggle again without great skill-position players. QB Clint Trickett (6.9 YPA, 7 TD, 7 INT) should start if his hurt shoulder is OK, and Pittsburgh transfer RB Rushel Shell (641 rush yds in ‘12) should propel the ground game. S Karl Joseph (68 tackles) can hit, and LB Brandon Golson (5 FF, 4 sacks) will play OLB and D-End in new DC Tony Gibson’s 3-4 scheme.

IOWA STATE CYCLONES

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 3-9 (2-7 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 6-6 (50%)
Over/Under: 8-4
Points Scored: 24.8 PPG (90th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 36.0 PPG (109th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 100/1 (Field)

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 10
Defense: Starters Returning: 5
New OC Mark Mangino takes over an offense that scored only 24.8 PPG. But QB Grant Rohach (6.3 YPA, 8 TD, 7 INT) has some weapons in TE E.J. Bibbs (462 rec yds) and WRs Quenton Bundrage (676 rec yds, 9 TD) and USF transfer D’Vario Montgomery. RBs Aaron Wimberly (4.0 YPC) and DeVondrick Nealy (3.9 YPC) are mediocre. ISU’s defense is lacking in many areas. LB Jared Brackens (61 tackles) and CB Nigel Tribune (6 PD) shine brightest.

KANSAS JAYHAWKS

2013 Statistics:
SU Record: 3-9 (1-8 in Big 12)
ATS Record: 4-8 (33%)
Over/Under: 5-7
Points Scored: 15.3 PPG (120th in FBS)
Points Allowed: 31.8 PPG (94th in FBS)
Odds to Win 2015 BCS National Championship: 100/1 (Field)

2014 Preview:
Offense: Starters Returning: 7
Defense: Starters Returning: 9
Dual-threat sophomore QB Montell Cozart (3.6 YPA, 0 TD, 2 INT) won the starting job and has a true No. 1 receiver in Miami Ohio transfer WR Nick Harwell (3,166 rec yds, 23 TD in 3 years). The ground game could improve with RBs Brandon Bourbon (4.7 YPC, 4 TD) and Darrian Miller (4.8 YPC), but the O-Line is subpar. The defense’s strength lies with CB Dexter McDonald (10 PD), S Isaiah Johnson (5 INT) and LB Ben Heeney (87 tackles, 3 INT).
