SAN ANTONIO SPURS (19-13)

at MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (22-8)

Tip-off: Tuesday, 8:05 p.m. ET
Line: Memphis -2, Total: 194.5

Two of the Western Conference’s elite teams square off on Tuesday when the Spurs visit the Grizzlies.

San Antonio is coming off of a 110-106 win over the Rockets as a 1-point home favorite on Sunday. The Spurs have struggled as of late though, winning just three of their past 10 games, and covering in only four of those contests. Memphis hasn’t been much better though, winning 103-95 as a 3.5-point road favorite in Miami on Saturday for its first win (SU or ATS) in the past five contests. These teams squared off on Dec. 17, when Memphis beat the Spurs 117-116 in triple overtime as a 3-point road underdog. Over the past three seasons, however, the Spurs are 11-3 SU and 9-5 ATS versus the Grizzlies. They are also 5-2 SU and ATS when facing playing in Memphis. San Antonio is 39-24 ATS after a combined score of 205+ points over the past two seasons and 134-92 ATS on Tuesday nights since 1996. The Grizzlies, meanwhile, are 19-8 ATS after scoring 100+ points in two straight games over the past three years. PG Tony Parker (hamstring) and SF Kawhi Leonard (hand) are expected to miss this game for the Spurs, and PF Zach Randolph (knee) is also doubtful for the Grizzlies.

While StatFox Forecaster has a strong 57% ATS record (81-62-1) in featured games this season, the five experts have been profitable recently with a collective 53% ATS mark (57-51-2) in NBA Best Bets since Nov. 29. StatFox Gary is 59% ATS (13-9) during this timeframe to give him a 56% ATS (25-20) in NBA Best Bets this season, while StatFox Brian is 61% ATS (14-9) in Best Bets since Nov. 29.

The Spurs have struggled recently, but the one thing that has hurt them the most has been injuries. With PG Tony Parker (16.2 PPG, 5.2 APG) and SF Kawhi Leonard (15.2 PPG, 7.6 RPG) likely to be out, PF Tim Duncan (16.1 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 2.2 BPG) will need to do the heavy lifting for San Antonio's offense. The last time these teams played each other, Duncan had 23 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 48 minutes of action. He was hitting big shots for the team, but the club just wasn’t able to come away with a victory. He’ll need to do a lot of the same against this tough Grizzlies team on Tuesday. SG Danny Green (12.8 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.2 BPG, 1.5 SPG) will also be relied on to do some of the scoring in this game. Green had 24 points in 35 minutes against the Rockets on Sunday and could really help this team when he is shooting the ball well. He had one of his best games of the season when these teams last faced one another, scoring 25 points in 52 minutes and also chipping in seven rebounds, five blocks and two steals. SG Manu Ginobili (12.9 PPG, 5.1 APG, 3.0 RPG) has come on lately for the Spurs, averaging 14.3 PPG, 8.0 APG and 4.3 RPG in 25.8 MPG over the past four games. He’ll need to continue to distribute the ball effectively with Parker out.

The Grizzlies picked up a big victory on Saturday to snap a four-game losing skid, and they’ll now look to win two in a row against the Spurs. C Marc Gasol (20.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.6 BPG) has scored 23+ points in four straight games. Over the past five contests, he’s averaging 22.2 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 4.0 APG and 1.2 BPG. He’s playing the best basketball of his career, and will now need to win his matchup with Tim Duncan in order to help his team beat the defending champs. Gasol had 26 points and nine rebounds in the triple-overtime win just a few weeks ago, and should be able to find similar success against San Antonio this time around. One player who will really need to step up on Tuesday is PG Mike Conley (17.9 PPG, 6.0 APG). Conley is coming off a 24-point performance against the Heat and has been great as a scorer at times this season. With PF Zach Randolph (16.1 PPG, 11.4 RPG) out, Conley will need to be more aggressive shooting the ball once again for Memphis. He should have a major positional advantage in this matchup, as the Spurs are likely to be without Tony Parker. SG Vince Carter (7.0 PPG) could also really help Memphis’ offense with a big game off the bench. He has scored in double digits in four of the past five games.
