Leicester City defied the odds in the 2015-16 English Premier League, but a repeat title seems unlikely given how the top teams added to their squads this summer. Manchester City and Manchester United will be the favorites, but there are other teams with more favorable odds and a realistic shot of claiming the 2016-17 title, including these three:

Arsenal - Arsenal finished last season’s campaign in second place, and despite not making a major splash in the transfer market, the team retained all of its key players. What currently looks like a center back crisis will be resolved in the very near future with the return of Laurent Koscielny and the likely addition of Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia. The Gunners’ midfield only got stronger with the arrival of Granit Xhaka, and the Swiss international will feature in an important role behind the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal could do with another option at striker, but despite his detractors, Olivier Giroud scored 16 goals in the league last season. Adding another forward would be great, but taking the runners-up at 5-to-1 odds is an enticing option.

Tottenham - Tottenham finished last season in third in the table, but for much of the campaign looked like the strongest side in the league. Like Arsenal, Tottenham did not make much noise in the transfer market, but it retains all of its core players from a season ago. The Spurs’ defense was the strongest in the league last season, and Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, and Jan Vertonghen are all back. In midfield, Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen are all talented players, with Erik Lamela, Son Heung-min, and striker Harry Kane excellent options up front. Unlike its opponents, Tottenham does not need to worry about team chemistry, and could use this to its advantage to take home the 2016-17 title.

West Ham - Of all the teams with very high odds to win the league, West Ham is easily the best option. Goalkeeper Adrian is one of the very best in the league, and the Hammers have a reliable defense led by Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell. In midfield, Dimitri Payet is one of the league’s elite players, and West Ham made their intentions known by retaining him for the upcoming campaign. The team also added his former Marseille teammate Andre Ayew, along with Algerian international Sofiane Feghouli. The new additions should slot in seamlessly, and West Ham, which finished seventh last season, has a puncher’s chance of winning the league.
