Arsenal opens up its Premier League season at home against Liverpool.

Arsenal finished the 2015-16 English Premier League season in second place in the table, and will be looking to improve on that standing in this coming campaign. Petr Cech will start in goal for the Gunners, but the injury problems have already hit in defense. Center backs Gabriel Paulista, Per Mertesacker, and Laurent Koscielny will all miss out, so Nacho Monreal, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, and Francis Coquelin are all makeshift options to start. Kieran Gibbs and Hector Bellerin should start at the outside back positions, with Mohamed Elneny and Granit Xhaka in the center of the park. Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud only recently returned to training and could miss out, meaning Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chuba Akpom, and Alexis Sanchez are the most likely options in attack. Liverpool will be missing out on summer signing Loris Karius in net, so Simon Mignolet will retain his starting position. Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, and Alberto Moreno should start in defense, with James Milner, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, and Jordan Henderson available in midfield. Striker Daniel Sturridge will likely miss out, so Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will lead the line, with Philippe Coutinho also an option. With two shaky defenses, over 2.5 goals should be scored. Liverpool will be the stronger and more complete side in this opening match, and will leave the Emirates with a 2-1 victory.
