ATLANTA FALCONS (6-3)
at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-4)

Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia, PA
Kickoff: Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET
Line: Pick, Total: 50.0

The Falcons will be going for their third straight victory when they face the Eagles on Sunday.

The Falcons blew out the Buccaneers last Thursday night, as Atlanta won 43-28 as a 4.5-point road favorite. The Falcons have now won two straight games, and the team has scored at least 30 points in each of its past three. The Eagles, however, have not allowed 30 points in a single game this season, so something will have to give in this one. Philadelphia is struggling coming into this game, though, as the team has lost four of its past five coming into this one. The Eagles failed to cover in all four of those losses and will be hoping for a much better effort on Sunday. The Eagles will be confident coming into this one, though, as they are 6-1 both SU and ATS when hosting the Falcons since 1992. That one loss was, however, the last time these teams met in Philly, as Atlanta won 30-17 as a three-point road underdog on Oct. 28, 2012. One trend that favors the Falcons in this game is the fact that they are 10-2 ATS as an underdog over the past two seasons. Atlanta is, however, a miserable 24-43 ATS after gaining 6.5 or more yards per play in its previous game since 1992.

The Falcons are one of the league’s best teams this season and the offense is the main reason. QB Matt Ryan (2,980 yards, 23 TD, 4 INT) has been playing some of the best football of his career, and it’s unlikely that he will struggle in this one. The last time Ryan visited Philadelphia; he threw for 262 yards with three touchdowns and zero picks. He’ll be hoping that the scenery brings him the same luck this time around, and so will WR Julio Jones (51 rec, 970 yards, 5 TD). Jones is Ryan’s favorite target, and he is coming off of an eight-catch, 111-yard performance against the Bucs. Jones found the end zone in that game and it’s difficult to imagine him not doing so again on Sunday. Defensively, the Falcons will need to do their best to get after Carson Wentz in this one. Wentz started the year with some flawless play, but he has been exposed a bit as of late. If Atlanta can blitz him successfully then the team should be able to force turnovers this weekend.

The Eagles are struggling right now, but QB Carson Wentz (1,890 yards, 9 TD, 5 INT) should be excited about the matchup he has this weekend. Atlanta has one of the league’s worse passing defenses, as the team is allowing 290.0 yards per game through the air. The Falcons have also allowed 23 touchdowns through the air, and Wentz must be aggressive on Sunday. Defensively, there’s really not much the Eagles are going to be able to do in order to completely shut this Falcons team out. The best they can do is contain them, and that would come in the form of slowing Julio Jones down. If the Eagles can do that then they just might have a chance to win this game.
