NEW YORK YANKEES (74-46, +12.8 Units)

at KANSAS CITY ROYALS (50-73, -14.2 Units)

First pitch: Wednesday, 8:10 p.m. EDT
Line: New York -165, Kansas City +155, Total: 9.5

The streaking Yankees look for a three-game road sweep when they face the disgruntled Royals on Wednesday night. New York has won 13 of its past 17 games to take the lead in the AL East.

Yankees starter Bartolo Colon is 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA in his past four outings, all New York victories. The Royals counter with lefty Bruce Chen who is 1-5 with a 6.71 ERA in 16 career games against the Yankees. New York has peppered left-handed starters all year, amassing a 26-10 record (+13.4 Units) against them. The Royals might have a case of night blindness, considering they are a miserable 33-52 (-14.3 Units) under the lights. The -165 line is a steep price for Bartolo Colon, but the way the Yankees hit lefties, NEW YORK is close to a sure thing to complete the sweep Wednesday night.

This three-star FoxSheets trend also favors the Yankees.

Play Against - All underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher (KANSAS CITY) - poor offensive team - scoring <=4.7 runs/game on the season (AL), after allowing 9 runs or more. (273-114 over the last 5 seasons.) (70.5%, +102.5 units. Rating = 3*).

Colon (8-6, 3.31 ERA) threw six innings in his last outing, allowing five hits and two runs, but was stamped with a no-decision. Colon has had recent problems on the road, going 0-2 and allowing 13 runs (6 ER) in 11.2 innings over his past three road starts. Colon is facing the Royals for the first time since May 4, 2009 when he recorded a 3-0 loss as a member of the White Sox. He’s 15-8 with a hefty 4.80 ERA in 26 career starts versus Kansas City.

Bruce Chen (7-5, 4.15 ERA) is coming off one of his best outings of the year, throwing six shutout innings against the White Sox, and allowing only one hit. Chen also has pitched very well at home, going 4-1 with a 3.54 ERA in nine home starts. Chen will have to be careful with Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira who has hit six home runs off him in just 16 at-bats.
